Abstract

Migration is a complex phenomenon that touches economic, social and security aspects affecting our daily 
lives. It flows are now structural phenomenon that will continue in the next decades in an era of deepening 
globalization that intertwined with geopolitics, trade and cultural exchange. It is on the above light; this paper 
examines the level of migration flows, reasons for trends and challenges on both origin and destination. 
Different empirical literature and documented sources like international and national reports on migration 
issues were generated, critically synthesized and presented for the purpose of this study. It reveals that there 
are more international migrants today than ever before and number is certain to increase for the foreseeable 
future and it will continue to be affecting every country of the world. However, recommendations are made: 
number of global, regional and national policy tools and guidelines should be clearly developed and stated by 
the international community and countries by themselves to ensure good migration governance as well as the 
unreasonable migrants should be check and the reasonable one’s should be properly handled.
