Abstract

Employee performance is a critical determinant of organizational effectiveness in healthcare settings. This
study investigates the effect of work meaning, work-life balance, and work experience on employee
performance at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Gombe State, Nigeria. The research aims to understand how
these factors individually and collectively influence staff productivity and service delivery. A cross-sectional
research design was adopted, with data collected from 350 healthcare employees using structured
questionnaires. Quantitative analysis, including multiple regression and correlation techniques, was employed
to examine the relationships between the independent variables and employee performance. Findings reveal
that meaningful work, balanced work-life integration, and accumulated work experience significantly enhance
employee performance, while gaps in any of these areas can negatively affect motivation, efficiency, and
quality of care. The study concludes that promoting work meaningfulness, supporting work-life balance, and
leveraging employees' experience are essential strategies for improving performance. Recommendations
include organizational policy reforms, employee support programs, and continuous professional development
initiatives.
